I took pictures of this little gelding in April of 2017 at Tongue River Ranch Spring Works. JT Bowman was helping that day and this sorrel gelding was his mount that morning. When I contacted him to find out more he shared that “Peanut” belonged to a good friend and that he was fun to ride. Mr Bowman said that he was a “fun all around cowy gelding” and that he really liked dragging calves on him. It was obvious this little ranch horse knew his job. It was a windy morning and he was just taking it all in stride. I chose to do this piece in oil and stay a little more loose to show the light and movement of the wind.
