Red Dust, Whitefaces, and Blue Sky

“Red Dust, Whitefaces and Blue Sky” is a 12” x 24” colored pencil on sanded paper. This piece features Joshua Halsell and Justin “July” Johnson dragging Hereford calves through the dust at the River Pens on the Tongue River Ranch in the spring of 2018. This picture was a fun one to complete! I’ve been looking forward to it since the day I sat in the blowing dust taking pictures! July is riding his good grey gelding “Buster”, aka Circle Bar Catattack. Josh is on board “Gator”, aka “TRR Paseos Blue Gin”. He is out of TRR MS Paseos Gin and by Medicinal Mecom Blue. “Gator” has been in Josh’s string since he was a two year old. He has been a great ranch horse and has also been shown successfully in the RHAA by Josh and his daughter Haleigh! He will be selling in the Return to the Remuda sale in October! He will no doubt make some lucky buyer very happy! It is always an honor to feature the Tongue River family in my work. They are a good bunch and I really appreciate every opportunity I have to tag along with them to gather new material!
