The Blood Bay

"The Blood Bay” is a portrait of really nice little ranch gelding. “Punchy”, aka “Mr Bourbon Smoke”, belongs to the Bearce family of southern Oklahoma. The day I took pictures of him, he was packing young Wyatt and they were putting in a days work. When “Punchy” isn't earning his keep as a ranch horse, he is Wyatt's older brother Ty's high school rodeo head horse. Their dad purchased him as a 2 year old, started him and they have used him on the ranch since. Seen here, he's packing a Cowpuncher bit and posing in the tall green grass of the Entz Ranch near Hinton Oklahoma.
